Packing Tips and Tricks

Regardless of where it is that you’re going, packing and styling outfits before shoving miscellaneous items into a bag is of the utmost importance. Planning outfits ahead by laying out options that work with your essentials is the best way to pack less and wear more.

What are the essentials? Let’s break that down, first.

A great and flexible pair of denim jeans. First and foremost, a decently made pair of jeans is always worth it. A helpful tip, once you find a brand that fits your body type, try and stick with it moving forward. Denim is typically long lasting and can be worn more than once during any trip without washing or looking like you’re wearing the same thing every day. It makes for flexible outfit choices especially when your packing space is limited.

Comfortable shoes for walking and exploring. Shoes can make or break your day. When traveling, we often want to make the most out of our days as we are often only going for a short time period. But, how can we do that when our feet are killing us from sightseeing? Comfortable shoes are realistically the number one item you want to be sure you bring or wear. Regardless of how much room you have to pack, this item is something you never want to sacrifice. A helpful tip is to wear them to the airport or on the road. Travel days are lengthy, airports are huge and you do not want to start off your trip with blisters and sore feet!

Materials that do not wrinkle, easily. When traveling, there is not always going to be access to an iron or time to iron and since efficient packers always roll their items, we have to be prepared for this outcome. Cotton and linen are highly absorbent and easily wrinkle. However, there are fabrics that are less absorbent and do not hold onto water as quickly. A packing tip, stick to fabrics such as polyester, spandex and other machine washable materials. Some fabrics that do not ever require ironing are also the best travel companions like denim and cashmere.

Athleisure wear. Sometimes when we go on trips, we have this desire to pack clothes that we normally wouldn’t wear at home. Switching up our wardrobe and style without a clear idea as to how we would incorporate it can often be a recipe for disaster. Sticking with athleisure wear is the best choice for traveling because its trendy and comfortable. Remembering to stay true to the style that we wear at home allows us to spend less time worrying about what we will wear on the road, less time being uncomfortable and more time on the go!

When packing, your basic items are your life line. You also want to plan ahead by styling outfits and activities before packing everything up. It’s possible to pack for several days or more by packing just a long sleeve shirt, a sweater, two t-shirts, a blouse, a tank top and two pair of denim jeans (black and blue). This leaves room to even throw in some extras like a light-weight jacket, dress and/or jumpsuit. Sneakers are the gift of 2018 that we didn’t even know we were missing as they’re acceptable with just about every outfit. Happy traveling!
