What is considered age appropriate? That’s generally up to the person! Although, we’ve all said it or heard it, “I can’t wear that, it’s too young for me” and while we could debate for hours over whether that’s a personal choice as oppose to a standard set forth, let’s cut right to the chase and talk about some clothing options that are always age-appropriate when it comes to fashion.
Some types of clothing and fabrics never go out of style and most can be totally dressed up or down! Leaving plenty of variety to work with throughout the week, on the weekends and for whatever life may throw your way.
When looking to add some flare into your look at any age, consider:
Flats. Flat shoes create a lively and relaxed feel. Be it ballet styled or sneakers, flats can be worn with just about anything. I’m talking from dresses to pants. They’re great for any age as they are often dress code appropriate and stylish. Perfect for a weekend get together and various events, but flats are especially valuable in the office or classroom. Some days, we want to trade in the heels for something a little more, comfortable.
Metallics. A long pleated metallic skirt with a tucked in three-quarter sleeve top and a pair of pumps. This is a great look for a work event, holiday or party. A more casual option for incorporating metallic while still having fun during a night out is to sport a black sheer metallic top and dark denim jeans. Lock down this look with a pair of open toe heels.
The Classic White Button-Down Blouse. A trusty garment indeed! Whether it’s used as a coverup, tied together with leggings, in the office or for an upscale event, a white button-down blouse never fails to get the job done—that is unless someone spills something on it.
Animal Prints. Consider a flawless and fun leopard print sheath dress tied together with a solid heel for professional meetings that’s the way to go! Animal prints also look great as a high neck blouse with dress slacks or more casual bottoms instead. The animal print trend is huge right now so break the mold and jump right in. If you’re not ready to wear it as a top or bottom, freshen up your solid color ensemble with printed shoes.
